WHAT DOES IT MEAN FOR YOU TO BE APART OF “VIBESOCIETY”?

To be apart of VIBESOCIETY means being apart of something bigger than myself. The bond we have begun to build within our group is a sisterhood. We inspire and push one another to be better women, in and out of the studio! I joined VIBESOCIETY to challenge myself and encourage others to do the same.

WHAT IS YOUR BACKGROUND IN DANCE?

At a young age, I started my dance training with west African dance classes and Sistas-Wit-Style, a Caribbean Folk performing dance company from Trinidad & Tobago. Shortly after, I began training with a woman by the name of Jenay, co-founder and director of Mixdingrdnts. For a few years, she mentored me and taught me house dance. Beginning in High school, I began training more seriously in jazz, hip hop, contemporary, and majorette. I ended my dance training in high school with Heat Danceline, founded by Kalé Woods before moving for school.

WHAT ARE YOUR GOALS IN THE FUTURE?

I want to connect with individuals and help them grow in a myriad of areas, from training in heels to building their self-confidence.  I want anyone who watches to feel confident enough to come learn and grow with me. I want anyone who is training with me to feel their confidence boosting with every head roll and booty pop. Overall, I want to make a positive impact on my community and help people help themselves.

WHATS YOUR FAVORITE GENRE OF DANCE TO LEARN AND / OR TEACH?

My favorite genre of dance to learn is definitely HipHop and Heels. I love the slow and sexy aspect of Heels classes because it gives me a chance to dance for myself and learn to love the way my body moves. Dancing in heels has helped me build more confidence in myself and love myself more. HipHop classes, on the other hand, allow me to switch of the mood and come harder in my performance.

DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD AND WHY.

Ambitious. I’m a natural busy body and my mind is constantly racing with ideas. I take advantage of every opportunity to grow and learn because I know it will benefit me in the future. An investment in knowledge pays the best interest. Once I’ve figured out what I want, I figure out how to get it and I go for it. I don’t give up on anything I want in life. The worst thing I could ever hear is that I can’t do something.
